The Way of the Roses Coast to Coast
Morecambe to Bridlington Way of the Roses Cycle
This superb Sustrans C2C cycle route passes through the counties of Lancashire (the red rose) and Yorkshire (the white rose), on a journey of 170 miles from west to east. Small market towns, high moorland roads, and grand walled cities are all in store on this great C2C cycle route.
The Way of the Roses cycle route is well-marked and guides you through breathtaking river valleys, up into the Yorkshire Dales, past towns rich in history dating back to the Neolithic period, and across historic Viking battlefields. If you’ve already challenged yourself on the Classic C2C and want another fantastic 3 or 4 days on the bike, then this tour will not disappoint.
170 miles of carefully selected traffic-free cycleways and quiet rural roads enable you to cross from the town of Morecambe on the west coast, to Bridlington’s promenade in the east.
3 day version
Daily distances of 60 miles and brief, steep ascents in certain areas make this a demanding yet attainable task in 3 days for a reasonably fit road cyclist.
4 day version
Daily distances of 45 miles. The terrain and route remain unchanged, but the pace may be more relaxed, making it perfect for leisure cyclists.
As with our other popular C2C cycle tours, we make the best use of the weekend with our 3 day version. Arriving with us on a Thursday evening you will complete the ride on Sunday afternoon, at which point we will transfer you back to your car for your journey home. Our Way of the Roses 4 day version runs from Sunday evening to Thursday afternoon and also including a transfer back to your car in Morecambe.
