Morecambe to Bridlington Way of the Roses Cycle
170 miles over 3 days

This superb Sustrans C2C cycle route passes through the counties of Lancashire (the red rose) and Yorkshire (the white rose) on a journey of 170 miles from west to east. Small market towns, high moorland roads and grand walled cities are all in store on this great C2C cycle route.

The Way of the Roses cycle route was signposted in late 2010 and takes you along stunning river valleys, high into the Yorkshire Dales, through towns steeped in history dating back to the Neolithic era and across ancient Viking battlefields. If you’ve already challenged yourself on the classic C2C and want another fantastic 3 days on the bike then this tour will not disappoint.

170 miles of carefully selected traffic-free cycleways and quiet rural roads enable you to cross from the town of Morecambe on the west coast, to Bridlington’s promenade in the east. With daily distances of over 50 miles and short sharp ascents in places, this is a challenging but achievable undertaking in 3 days for any reasonably fit cyclist.

As with our other popular C2C cycle tours we make best use of the weekend, so you arrive with us on a Thursday evening (except on some bank holiday weekends) and complete the ride on Sunday afternoon, when we transfer you back to your car for your journey home. Alternatively, if you travel by rail, we can have a rental cycle ready for you at Morecambe then collect it at the finish, where Bridlington station connects you right in to the east coast mainline at Doncaster.

With over a decade of proven success with C2C holidays, the same recipe of organisation and service has been applied here to ensure that you get a truly memorable and enjoyable cycling experience.

This is the second coast to coast i've completed this year with cycle active and I cannot fault the service provided. Both journeys were extremely enjoyable for the scenery, accommodation, quiet roads and cycle ways. I met some great people doing the journey,I may make it a yearly trip.

I'm 67 years old and this was my first long-distance cycling event. I felt daunted by having to cycle 170 miles in three days and, although it was challenging, I enjoyed every minute of it. I can thoroughly recommend the Way of the Roses Coast to Coast tour.

Robert Goulding

CycleActive remove the hassle of planning accommodation, transport and luggage transfers from your trip. With friendly advice and local knowledge, they would always be my first choice when planning a cycling holiday.

Nick Blech

Great way to see country side missed by travelling by cars and to meet new people on the way......

Darryl Wilkinson

Just a fantastic three days in a most beautiful part of the country. The month of September was generous with the weather and the sun certainly shone on the red and white rose. Be prepared to pace yourself, for most of us this cannot be treated as a race. Just fab!

Ian Jefcoate

All you do is cycle and cycleactive do the rest.

Robert Hay

Thoroughly recommend this trip. Organisation and staff great. Having the luggage carried lets you get on and enjoy all parts of the ride

Robert Ingram

A really enjoyable trip and an opportunity to challenge yourself but also enjoy the scenery and companionship.

George Buchanan

Way of the Roses had everything......tough climbs, good distances, fantastic scenery, great accommodation. It doesn't get much better in England!. Thanks Rich & Jon. Will definitely be on another ride next year.

Les Webb

As my first ever cycling holiday and not a true cyclist I was apprehensive about my ability to complete the mileage but with beautiful countryside as well as an easy to follow route I enjoyed it so much that we've all booked again for next year and we can't wait. Cycle Active were on hand if we needed them and made the transition from one Hotel to another something we didn't even think about throughout our holiday. Bring on next year.

Natasha Dorey

An excellent trip with challenging cycling in beautiful scenery - the vast majority on very well selected lightly trafficked roads.

Chris Thorogood

A great cycling challenge with all the friendly, well organised support necessary for success.
