OUR PARTNERS

A cycle holiday needs a combination of careful planning -to create the perfect trip - and great professional guides - to bring that perfect trip to life.

Since 1996 we’ve worked hard to build our own small team of expert guides, and at the same time forge partnerships with some impressive, professional people around the world. This page explains how this helps us to create, and then take you on, a range of wonderful travel experiences.

Planning in Partnership

As a small, independent company we always take a “hands on” approach to everything we do. When we work abroad we don’t just let local operators create tours for us to sell - at CycleActive we are involved in every stage of the planning process.

For over 20 years now our team have been designing cultural and adventure tours, writing for travel magazines, and leading journeys all over the world. Through strong partnerships built over many years, we have been able to share this knowledge with experts in every country we operate in.

This combination of local know-how and our long tour-planning tradition lets us create standout holidays, from easy tours in exotic lands to adventurous journeys in remote and beautiful settings.

When you call us we can use this knowledge to give you plain, honest advice. The team here is friendly and very well informed so we’ll always be ready to give you the low down on a destination before you book, or while you’re getting ready to travel.

Guiding in Partnership

Our guides deliver a level of safety and service that is hard to match. They are some of the best, most highly qualified and experienced leaders in the world – read their profiles and find out about our guiding partnerships around the world more

Our Corporate Partners

The companies listed below are great supporters of CycleActive and have worked with us in many ways, for many years.

trek CycleActive

We’re proud to be working with the bike company we believe is leading the way in design, quality and performance across all cycling disciplines. With Britain’s XC Olympic rider Liam Killeen racing his mountain bikes, and world number 1 downhiller Rachel Atherton racing for them too, this is a company that’s really driving the bike industry.

gore CycleActive

The serious cyclist needs serious clothing if they want to be comfortable and perform to their best in all conditions. For over 14 years we’ve been fully supported by Gore and we’re working with them still, as no other kit lets our guides perform at their very best – wherever they are, whatever they’re doing, whatever the weather.

adidas CycleActive

The combination of high quality optics, flexible lens choices and a wide range of high performance designs made Adidas eyewear the natural choice for CycleActive and our guides. All staff wear Adidas on the trails, and CycleActive founder Chris Ford is an avid fan of the prescription insert system, which he has used since 2004.

661 CycleActive

The world’s leading provider of personal protective equipment to mountain bikers. We work closely with 661 and use a wide range of their products when guiding, coaching and just getting out into demanding terrain on our mountain bikes. With a full range that covers everything from junior cyclists to bmx racers to light weight xc armour or full downhill protection, 661 is at the cutting edge of PPE design.

wheelbase CycleActive

Our bike store partner for the southern Lake District with coverage of the whole of the UK – Wheelbase is officially the largest cycle shop in Britain. They stock every major brand that we work with – Trek, Gore, 661 and more – as well as a host of other mountain, road and bmx biking products. The customer service for you, your fleet or your centre is second to none.

In winter the fleece versions are life savers. Buff fully sponsor all guides and support our youth development work at major cycle events too

A shop with a reputation for excellence, right in the heart of The Lake District – you know you’ll find what you need at BikeTreks. In 2005 they moved to major premises next to The Glasshouse in Ambleside so they’ve increased their stock of bikes, accessories and also their clothing ranges, especially for women.
